Creating Bio in Multiple Languages

Quick Answer

Create additional bio versions in different languages to connect with clients who prefer reading in their native language. Each language version can have its own Name, Headline, and Bio—allowing you to present yourself authentically to diverse communities.

Overview

Heritage Web supports content in 50+ languages, including those with non-Latin scripts like Farsi, Arabic, Chinese, and Korean. When you create a bio in another language, visitors browsing that language version of a publication see your content in their preferred language. This is especially powerful for community directories—your Farsi bio appears to visitors on IranianLawyers.com browsing in Farsi.

Prerequisite: You must add a language in your Languages section before you can create bio content in that language.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Add the Language to Your Profile

  1. Go to My Profile and expand the Languages section

  2. Click Add Languages +

  3. Select the language you want to create content in

  4. Set proficiency and speaker

  5. Click Publish Draft to save

Step 2: Create a New Bio Version

  1. Scroll to the Bio section

  2. You'll see Bio (1) for your primary English bio

  3. Click Add Bio or look for the option to add another language

  4. Select the Publication and Language for this bio version

  5. A new bio block appears (e.g., "Bio (2)")

Step 3: Write Your Content

  1. Expand the new bio block

  2. Enter your Name—you can use native script (e.g., داریوش آرمین for Farsi)

  3. Add a Headline in that language

  4. Write your Bio in that language

Step 4: Save Your Changes

  1. Review your content

  2. Click Publish Draft

  3. After approval, your multi-language content goes live

Important Notes

  • Your primary bio (HeritageWeb.com/English) is required—additional languages are optional

  • You must list a language in the Languages section before creating bio content in it

  • Do not use machine translation—write professionally or have a native speaker help

  • Each publication may support different languages (HeritageWeb.com has 50+; community sites have English + their community language)

  • The Preview button only shows your HeritageWeb.com/English version

FAQs

Which languages are available? HeritageWeb.com supports 50+ languages. Community publications (like IranianLawyers.com) typically support English plus their community's primary language(s).

Can I write my name in a non-Latin script? Yes. You can write your name in Farsi (داریوش آرمین), Arabic, Chinese, Korean, or any supported script. This appears on publications where that language is active.

Do I need separate bios for each publication? Not necessarily. You can create one English bio that appears across all your English publications. But you can also create publication-specific versions if you want tailored messaging (see "Name and Headline Customization by Publication").

What if I don't speak the language fluently? Have a native speaker or professional translator write or review your content. Machine-translated bios often feel awkward and can hurt your credibility.

How many language versions can I create? There's no strict limit. Create versions for each language you genuinely serve clients in.
