Quick Answer

Community Connections determines which Heritage Web publications your profile appears on. Select up to 10 communities you authentically connect with—whether through heritage, faith, gender, or life experience. Your selections directly affect which of our 300+ community directories feature your listing.

Overview

Heritage Web operates a network of community-focused professional directories like IranianLawyers.com, BlackDoctors.com, and WomenAttorneys.com. The Community Connections section lets you identify which communities you belong to or serve, enabling your profile to appear on the relevant publications.

This is a primary factor in publication placement and works alongside your Industries selection to determine your specific directory assignments.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Community Connections Section

Navigate to your Edit Profile page and expand "Community Connections."

Step 2: Click Add Community

Click the "Add Community +" button.

Step 3: Select Your Community

A dropdown appears with a scrollable list. You can type to search or scroll to find your community. Categories include:

  • From Region: Afghan, Armenian, Chinese, Iranian, Korean, Mexican, Vietnamese, and 50+ more

  • By Culture: Black, Latino, Native American

  • By Faith: Bahai, Buddhist, Catholic, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and more

  • By Experience: Deaf, Disability, Entrepreneur, LGBTQ, Senior (65+), Veteran, Women, and more

Step 4: Add Additional Communities

Repeat for each community you authentically connect with. You can select up to 10 communities.

Step 5: Submit Your Changes

Click "Publish Draft" to save and submit for review.

How Community + Industry = Publication Assignment

Your community selections combine with your industry to determine specific publication placements:

Community

Industry

Publication Assignment

Black

Legal Services

Women

Legal Services

Vietnamese

Real Estate Agent

Jewish

Therapist

Selecting multiple communities expands your reach across multiple publications.

What Qualifies as an Authentic Connection

For profile listings, authentic connections include:

  • Heritage or ethnicity you identify with

  • Religion you practice or were raised in

  • Gender identity

  • Military service (for Veterans)

  • Life experiences (Deaf, Disability, Single Parent, etc.)

  • Communities you actively serve professionally

Important Notes

  • Maximum 10 selections: Prioritize the communities most important to your practice

  • Hidden still works: Toggling visibility off hides communities from your public profile, but publication placement continues

  • Staff verify when needed: Heritage Web may review selections if patterns suggest misrepresentation

  • Multiple communities encouraged: Authentic multi-community professionals should select all that apply

FAQs

Does hiding Community Connections remove me from those publications? No. Hiding only affects what visitors see on your profile page. Your listing still appears on the assigned publications.

Can I select communities I serve but don't personally belong to? Yes. If you authentically serve a community (for example, a non-Iranian attorney who has built a practice serving the Iranian community), you may select it. Staff may request clarification if the connection isn't clear from your profile.

What if my community isn't listed? Contact support to suggest adding a new community. In the meantime, select the closest available option.

How quickly do publication changes take effect? After your listing is approved, publication assignments are updated. Changes go through the standard review process.
