Quick Answer

Add social media links in the "Social Media" section of your event listing. Events can link to 4 platforms: Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, and Instagram. Note: LinkedIn and Yelp are not available for event listings.

Overview

Social media links help potential attendees follow your event updates, share with friends, and engage with event content. Only platforms with URLs entered will display—empty fields are simply not shown.

Events have fewer social media options than other listing types because some platforms (LinkedIn, Yelp) aren't applicable to events.

Navigate to your Edit Event page and expand "Social Media."

Paste the full URL for each platform you want to display:

  • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1234567890 or https://www.facebook.com/youreventpage

Which Platforms to Prioritize

High Priority:

  • Facebook: The primary platform for event discovery and RSVPs—many attendees expect this

  • Instagram: Excellent for visual event promotion and behind-the-scenes content

Medium Priority:

  • X/Twitter: Useful for event updates and hashtag campaigns

  • YouTube: Important if you have promotional videos or past event footage

What to Link: Event vs. Organizer Accounts

Option

When to Use

Event-specific accounts

Large events with dedicated social presence

Organizer accounts

Smaller events or when event-specific accounts don't exist

Facebook Event page

Great option—visitors can RSVP directly

Why Events Don't Have LinkedIn or Yelp

Platform

Why Not Available

LinkedIn

Events don't have their own LinkedIn presence; link your organization's LinkedIn in the Organization listing instead

Yelp

Yelp is for business reviews; events aren't reviewable businesses

If you want to show LinkedIn or Yelp presence, create an Organization listing for the event organizer and link it from your event.

Important Notes

  • Full URLs required: Include https:// at the beginning

  • Partial completion OK: Only add platforms where you have an active presence

  • Visibility toggle: You can hide social media without deleting URLs

  • Update for recurring events: Ensure social links are current for each event edition

FAQs

Can I link a Facebook Event instead of a Facebook Page? Yes! Linking directly to your Facebook Event page is a great option—visitors can RSVP and see event details.

Why can't I add LinkedIn to my event? Events don't have their own LinkedIn presence. If you want LinkedIn visibility, create an Organization listing for the event organizer with LinkedIn Company URL.

Should I create event-specific social accounts? For large recurring events, dedicated accounts can build a following. For smaller or one-time events, using the organizer's accounts is often more practical.

What if our social accounts are private? Public accounts are strongly recommended for events. If accounts are private, links will work but visitors will see a "private account" message.
