Quick Answer
Your Organization Overview is a required field that introduces your business to potential clients. Along with your Organization Name, it must be completed before your listing can be submitted for review. Your Overview appears prominently on your public listing and helps visitors understand what your organization does.
Overview
The Overview section is where you tell your organization's story. A well-written overview builds trust, explains your services, and helps potential clients understand why they should choose your business. Your primary overview (for HeritageWeb.com in English) is required—you can add additional versions in other languages or for specific community publications after your listing is approved.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Access Your Overview
Log into your Heritage Web dashboard.
Click My Organizations in the left navigation.
Select the organization you want to edit.
Click the Name & Overview tab (second tab).
Locate your primary content block labeled Overview (1) - HeritageWeb.com / English.
Step 2: Complete the Required Fields
Each overview block contains three fields:
Field | Required | Description |
Organization Name | Yes | Your business name as you want it displayed |
Tagline | No | A short slogan or summary (e.g., "Authentic Persian Cuisine Since 1995") |
Overview | Yes | Your full business description |
Enter your Organization Name (you can drop "LLC" or "Inc." if preferred).
Add a Tagline that captures your value proposition (optional but recommended).
Write your Overview in the text area.
Step 3: Write an Effective Overview
Include:
What your organization does and who you serve
Your unique value proposition or differentiator
Years in business or key milestones
The communities or markets you specialize in
Your mission or approach
Avoid:
Generic descriptions that could apply to any business
Excessive industry jargon
Outdated information or discontinued services
Contact information embedded in the text (use your Locations tab instead)
Claims you can't substantiate
Step 4: Save and Submit
Review your overview for spelling, clarity, and accuracy.
Click Publish Draft at the top of the page.
Your listing will be submitted for review.
Important Notes
Organization Name and Overview are required—your listing cannot be submitted without them.
Your primary overview is always for HeritageWeb.com in English.
You can create additional overview versions for other publications and languages after your listing is approved and publications are assigned.
The Preview button shows only your HeritageWeb.com version.
Overview content is reviewed during the approval process for accuracy and professionalism.
FAQs
What's the ideal overview length?
Aim for 150–400 words. Long enough to explain your business thoroughly, short enough to keep readers engaged. Lead with your most important information since visitors often scan quickly.
Should I write in first person ("we") or third person ("the company")?
Either works. First person ("We specialize in...") feels more personal and direct. Third person ("Heritage Realty Group specializes in...") can feel more formal. Choose what fits your brand voice.
Can I include my business credentials and certifications?
Yes, mention relevant certifications, awards, and credentials. However, detailed license information belongs in the Licenses & Certifications section where it can be verified.
What's the difference between Organization Name and the name on my business license?
You can use your public-facing brand name even if it differs slightly from your legal entity name. For example, you might use "Heritage Realty Group" instead of "Heritage Realty Group, LLC." The name should still accurately represent your business.
Why was my overview rejected?
Common reasons include: using a personal name instead of an organization name, including contact information in the overview text, or content that doesn't meet professional standards. Check your rejection email for specific guidance.
Can I update my overview after it's approved?
Yes. Any changes are saved as a draft and submitted for re-review when you click Publish Draft. Your current approved version stays live until the new version is approved.
