Understanding the 75-Mile Matching Radius

Quick Answer

By default, you receive leads from clients located within 75 miles of your business location(s). This radius is calculated as a straight-line distance from your ZIP code. If you have multiple locations, each one creates its own 75-mile matching circle.

Overview

Geographic matching is one of six filters Heritage Web uses to match referral leads to professionals. When a potential client submits a referral request, we check if their location falls within your service area. The default radius is 75 miles, but this can be adjusted for professionals who serve larger or smaller areas.

Key Details

How It Works

  1. You add a business location with a ZIP code

  2. The system creates a 75-mile radius around that ZIP code's center point

  3. When a lead comes in, we check if the client's location is within your radius

  4. If yes (and other matching criteria are met), you're matched to the lead

Multiple Locations

If you have multiple office locations:

  • Each location creates its own 75-mile circle

  • The circles are checked independently

  • A lead matches if the client is within any of your circles

Example: You have offices in Houston and Dallas. A client in Austin (within 75 miles of neither) wouldn't match. A client in College Station (within 75 miles of Houston) would match.

Important Notes

  • Geographic matching is one of six filters—you must also match on industry, language, licenses, etc.

  • The default 75-mile radius works well for most in-person professional services

  • Remote or national services should request "No Limit" (see Related Articles)

  • You cannot change your radius in the dashboard—contact support to adjust

FAQs

Why 75 miles? It's a reasonable default for most professional services. It covers a typical metropolitan area and surrounding suburbs without being so large that you receive irrelevant leads.

What if I only serve a smaller area? Contact support to reduce your radius to 25 or 50 miles. This prevents matches with clients too far away.

What if I serve clients nationally? Request "No Limit" for your service radius. This is common for immigration attorneys, remote consultants, telehealth providers, and other services that don't require in-person meetings.

Does driving distance matter? No. The system uses straight-line distance, not driving distance or travel time. A client 74 miles away by air might be a 2-hour drive depending on roads.

Can I have different radii for different services? Currently, your radius applies to all services on your listing. If you need different areas for different specialties, contact support to discuss options.
