Overview

Heritage Web reviews every donation feature request to ensure donor trust and platform integrity. The review process confirms your nonprofit verification status and Stripe account connection before enabling the Donate button on your listing.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Ensure You've Connected Stripe

Before requesting activation, your Stripe account must be connected and onboarding must be complete. Your Donations tab should show Stripe status as Connected.

Step 2: Click "Request Donation Feature"

On the Donations tab, click Request Donation Feature. This submits your request to the Heritage Web admin team.

Your request status will change to Pending.

Step 3: Wait for Admin Review

A Heritage Web admin will review your request. During the review, the admin verifies:

  • Your 501(c)(3) license is verified and active

  • Your Stripe account is properly connected

  • Your Organization listing is in good standing

Step 4: Receive Approval Notification

You'll receive an email notification when your request is approved or denied.

If approved: The Donate button goes live immediately on all publications where your listing is visible.

If denied: The email will include a reason. You can address the issue and submit a new request.

Important Notes

Both prerequisites must be met. You need a verified 501(c)(3) license AND a connected Stripe account before you can submit a request.

Review timing varies. Admin reviews are handled manually. Allow a few business days for processing.

No action needed after approval. Once approved, the Donate button appears automatically. You don't need to enable it per publication β€” it follows your existing listing visibility settings.

FAQs

Can I see the status of my request?

Yes. The Donations tab shows your current request status: Not Requested, Pending, Approved, or Revoked.

What if my request is denied?

Review the reason provided in the denial email. Common reasons include incomplete Stripe onboarding or an unverified 501(c)(3) license. Resolve the issue and submit a new request.

Can I accept donations before being approved?

No. The Donate button only appears on your listing after an admin approves your request.
