Quick Answer

Heritage Web allows verified nonprofit organizations to accept one-time and recurring donations directly through their listing pages. Donations are processed securely through Stripe, and all funds go directly to the nonprofit's bank account — Heritage Web never touches the money.

Overview

The Donations feature is designed for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that maintain an Organization listing on Heritage Web. Once activated, a Donate button appears on every publication where your listing is published, allowing visitors to support your organization without leaving Heritage Web.

Donations are powered by Stripe Connect, one of the most widely used payment platforms in the world. Your organization connects its own Stripe account, and all donations flow directly from the donor to your bank account through Stripe.

How It Works

Step 1: Verify Your Eligibility

Your Organization listing must have "Non Profit" selected as an industry, and your 501(c)(3) license must be verified through Heritage Web's Licenses & Certifications system.

Step 2: Connect Stripe

From the Donations tab in your dashboard, you'll connect or create a Stripe account through Stripe's secure onboarding process.

Step 3: Request Activation

After connecting Stripe, your request is submitted to Heritage Web for review. An admin reviews your nonprofit verification and Stripe connection status.

Step 4: Go Live

Once approved, the Donate button appears automatically on all publications where your listing is visible. Visitors can donate immediately.

What Donors See

When your donation feature is active, visitors to your listing see:

Donate button — Opens a secure Stripe Checkout page with preset donation amounts ($25, $50, $100, $250) and a custom amount option.

Trust banner — Displays "Verified Nonprofit · Donations processed securely via Stripe."

Social proof — Shows how many people have donated to your organization.

Important Notes

No platform fees. Heritage Web does not take any percentage of donations. Standard Stripe processing fees apply (charged by Stripe, not Heritage Web).

Organization-level, not per-publication. You connect Stripe once, and the Donate button appears across all your publications automatically.

Only for Organization listings. Profile, Event, and Job listings are not eligible for donations.

Admin approval required. Heritage Web reviews every donation request to protect donors and maintain trust.

FAQs

Does Heritage Web take a cut of my donations?

No. Heritage Web does not charge any platform fee. Stripe charges its standard processing fees, which go directly to Stripe — not Heritage Web.

Can donors make recurring monthly donations?

Yes. When donating, visitors can toggle "Make this a monthly donation" to set up automatic recurring contributions.

Will I see who donated?

Heritage Web sends you an email notification the first time each new donor contributes. Detailed donation activity is managed through your Stripe account dashboard.

Can I accept donations on only some of my publications?

Not individually. The Donate button appears on all publications where your listing is visible. You can use the existing Publish toggle on the Publications tab to control where your listing appears.
