Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Find Your Stripe Payment Confirmation Email
After your first donation, Stripe sends a confirmation email to the address you provided at checkout. This email contains a link to manage your payment.
Step 2: Access Your Stripe Donor Portal
Click the manage your payment link in the Stripe email. This takes you to Stripe's customer portal, where you can view your active subscription.
Step 3: Update or Cancel Your Recurring Donation
From the Stripe customer portal, you can:
Update your payment method β Change the credit or debit card on file.
Cancel your recurring donation β Stop future monthly charges. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Important Notes
Heritage Web cannot modify your recurring donation. Because donations are processed directly through the organization's Stripe account, Heritage Web does not have access to your subscription. All changes must be made through Stripe.
Cancellation stops future charges only. Canceling a recurring donation does not issue a refund for past payments. If you need a refund, contact the nonprofit organization directly.
Lost your Stripe email? Check your inbox and spam folder for emails from Stripe ([email protected]). If you still can't find it, contact the nonprofit organization and they can assist through their Stripe dashboard.

Can I change the amount of my recurring donation?
To change the amount, cancel your current recurring donation through Stripe and set up a new one at the desired amount by clicking Donate on the organization's listing page.
Will the organization know if I cancel?
The organization can see subscription status changes in their Stripe dashboard, but Heritage Web does not send a cancellation notification to the organization.
Can I pause my recurring donation instead of canceling?
Stripe does not offer a pause option for donor-managed subscriptions. To temporarily stop, cancel and re-subscribe when you're ready to resume.
I donated to multiple organizations. Do I manage each one separately?
Yes. Each recurring donation is a separate subscription on the respective organization's Stripe account. Manage each one through the corresponding Stripe confirmation email.
