To accept donations on Heritage Web, your Organization listing must meet two requirements: (1) "Non Profit" must be selected as one of your industries, and (2) your 501(c)(3) license must be verified through the Licenses & Certifications section of your listing.
Step-by-Step: Checking Your Eligibility
Step 1: Confirm Your Industry Selection
Go to Dashboard → Edit Organization → Organization Details tab.
Scroll to the Industries section.
Verify that "Non Profit" is selected as one of your industries. If it's not listed, click Add Industry + and select it from the "Public & Non-Profit" category.
Step 2: Add Your 501(c)(3) License
On the same Organization Details tab, scroll to Licenses & Certifications.
Click Add License + and enter your 501(c)(3) details:
License Name: 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Status (or similar)
License Number: Your EIN
Country: United States
State: Leave unselected (this is a federal credential)
Acquired Date: Date your 501(c)(3) status was granted
Step 3: Wait for Verification
Heritage Web verifies 501(c)(3) licenses against IRS databases. Once verified, a verification badge (✓) appears next to your license. Verification is required before you can request the donation feature.
Important Notes
Verification timing. License verification happens during listing review. If your listing is already approved, updates to licenses may require a re-review cycle.
Keep your license current. If your 501(c)(3) status expires or is revoked, your donation capability will be automatically suspended. See "What Happens If Your 501(c)(3) Status Changes" for details.
Non-nonprofit organizations. If your Organization listing does not have "Non Profit" as an industry, the Donations tab will display a message that donations are currently available for verified nonprofits only.
FAQs
I have a 501(c)(3) but it's not showing as verified yet. Can I still request donations?
No. Your license must display the verification badge before you can submit a donation feature request. If verification is taking longer than expected, contact [email protected].
My organization is a nonprofit but not a 501(c)(3). Am I eligible?
Not yet. Donations are currently limited to organizations with verified 501(c)(3) status. Heritage Web plans to expand eligibility to other nonprofit types in the future.
