Quick Answer
Always set your event's timezone to match the physical location where it takes place. Visitors see times displayed in your selected timezone, not their local time. For virtual events, use the organizer's timezone and mention it clearly in your description.
Overview
Timezone selection ensures visitors across different regions see the correct time for your event. Heritage Web displays times exactly as you set them, in the timezone you specify—there's no automatic conversion to the visitor's local time.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Choose the Right Timezone
Find the timezone dropdown in Events Schedule
Select the timezone matching your event's location
Format displays as: (GMT-5:00) Eastern Time
For In-Person Events
Select the timezone of your venue:
New York conference → Eastern Time
Los Angeles workshop → Pacific Time
Chicago meetup → Central Time
Denver retreat → Mountain Time
For Virtual Events
Choose the organizer's timezone or a common reference point
State the timezone clearly in your event description
Consider adding: "All times shown in Pacific Time (PT)"
For Hybrid Events
Use the in-person venue's timezone as the primary reference, and note this in your description for virtual attendees.
Important Notes
Daylight saving time is handled automatically based on the timezone selected
All standard timezones are available in the dropdown
The timezone applies to both start and end times
All-day events still require a timezone selection
FAQs
Will visitors see the event in their local timezone? No. Times display exactly as you enter them, in your selected timezone. A 6 PM Eastern event shows as "6 PM Eastern" to everyone, regardless of where they're viewing from.
How should I handle international virtual events? Pick one timezone as your reference (typically the host's location), select it in the dropdown, and list the time in multiple zones in your description: "2 PM ET / 11 AM PT / 7 PM GMT"
What if I enter the wrong timezone? Edit your event listing, select the correct timezone, and submit for re-review. The change takes effect once approved.
