Managing Visibility and Referrals per Publication

Quick Answer

Use the Publication Table to independently control your visibility (whether you appear on a site) and referral matching (whether you receive leads from a site). This lets you customize your presence—for example, staying visible on a publication without receiving its leads, or receiving leads without being publicly listed.

Overview

Visibility and referral matching are separate settings. This flexibility lets you fine-tune your presence across Heritage Web's publication network. You might want maximum exposure on some sites while limiting lead volume from others, or vice versa.

  • Serve the community but don't want public listing

  • Strategic lead sourcing without visibility

Important Notes

  • HeritageWeb.com toggles cannot be turned off—it's always visible with referrals enabled

  • Turning off Referrals doesn't affect leads from other publications

  • These settings don't affect direct messages—visitors can still message you if Direct Messages are enabled

  • Changes apply to future leads; existing matched leads aren't affected

FAQs

Will hiding from a publication affect my other listings? No. Each toggle affects only that specific publication for that specific listing.

Can I receive leads from a site without being listed there? Yes. Set Publish to OFF and Referrals to ON. You'll match with leads from that community but won't appear in their directory.

Why would I want to be visible but not receive referrals? To maintain presence and credibility without increasing lead volume. Useful if you're at capacity or want to focus leads from specific publications.

Does this affect direct messages I receive? No. The Referrals toggle only affects the paid/free lead matching system. Direct messages from visitors are controlled separately in your Direct Message settings.
