Adding Languages You Speak

Quick Answer

Add the languages you or your team members speak to help potential clients find you and to qualify for language-specific community publications. Languages directly affect which leads you receive and which directories your listing appears on.

Overview

The Languages section lets you specify which languages your practice can serve clients in. You can add languages you personally speak or languages that colleagues and staff members speak. Both count equally for lead matching—if a client needs a Farsi-speaking attorney and your paralegal speaks Farsi, you'll be matched to that lead.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Access the Languages Section

  1. Log into your Heritage Web dashboard

  2. Click My Profile in the left navigation

  3. Scroll to the Languages section

  4. Click to expand it

Step 2: Add a Language

  1. Click Add Languages +

  2. A new row appears with three dropdown fields

  3. Click the first dropdown and select or search for the language

  4. Select your proficiency level:

    • Conversational – Basic conversations, may need support for complex topics

    • Fluent – Comfortable with professional discussions

    • Native or Bilingual – Native speaker or equivalent proficiency

  5. Select the speaker:

    • You – You personally speak this language

    • My colleague speaks – A team member or staff person speaks it

Step 3: Add Additional Languages

  1. Repeat Step 2 for each language your practice can serve

  2. There is no maximum limit—add all applicable languages

Step 4: Save Your Changes

  1. Review your language entries

  2. Click Publish Draft at the top of the page

  3. Changes take effect after approval

Important Notes

  • Languages affect lead matching—you'll only receive leads requiring languages you've listed

  • Languages affect publication assignment—adding Farsi may qualify you for IranianLawyers.com

  • Both "You" and "My colleague speaks" count equally for matching

  • Adding a language enables you to create Bio content in that language for relevant publications

FAQs

Do colleague languages count for lead matching? Yes. If you list Spanish as "My colleague speaks," you'll still match with leads requesting Spanish-speaking professionals.

Does proficiency level affect which leads I receive? No. Currently, all proficiency levels are treated equally for matching. Proficiency is displayed to help visitors assess fit.

Can I add unlimited languages? Yes. Add every language your practice can genuinely serve.

Will adding a language get me on more publications? Often, yes. Languages are a primary factor in publication assignment. For example, adding Farsi may qualify your listing for Iranian community directories.
