Quick Answer

Skills are free-form keyword tags that display on your profile to help visitors understand your capabilities. Type any skill and press Enter to add it. You can add up to 50 skills, but they are for display only—skills do not affect lead matching or publication placement.

Overview

The Skills section lets you add keywords representing your expertise, services, and competencies. Unlike the structured Industries picker, Skills uses an open tag-based system where you type whatever keywords you want.

Skills help visitors quickly scan your capabilities but do not impact which leads you receive or which publications you appear on. For lead matching, use the Industries section instead.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Skills Section

Navigate to your Edit Profile page and expand the "Skills" section.

Step 2: Type a Skill

Click in the text field and type a skill keyword.

Step 3: Press Enter to Add

Press Enter and your skill appears as a tag.

Step 4: Add More Skills

Repeat to add additional skills. You can add up to 50 skills total.

Step 5: Submit Your Changes

Click "Publish Draft" to save.

Important Notes

  • Display only: Skills do NOT affect lead matching or publication placement

  • Free-form entry: Type anything you want—there's no predefined list

  • Maximum 50 skills: Focus on 10-20 of your most relevant skills for a clean display

  • Visibility toggle: You can hide the Skills section if you prefer a cleaner profile

FAQs

Will adding more skills get me more leads? No. Skills are display-only and don't affect lead matching. To receive leads for specific services, add those services to your Industries section.

What's the difference between Skills and Industries? Industries uses a structured picker and directly affects lead matching and publication placement. Skills are free-form tags that only appear on your profile for visitors to see.

How many skills should I add? We recommend 10-20 focused skills. Too many skills can clutter your profile and make it harder for visitors to identify your core expertise.

Can I use Skills for SEO purposes? Skills may be indexed by search engines, but their primary purpose is helping visitors quickly understand your services. Focus on genuinely relevant terms.
