Updating Expired Licenses

Quick Answer

If your professional license expires, your listing remains published but is marked as having an expired license and excluded from lead matching. Update your license information to restore full functionality — your listing stays live during the update process.

Overview

Heritage Web conducts annual reviews of professional licenses to maintain directory quality. When a license expires, we don't remove your listing but mark it appropriately and pause lead matching until you update your credentials. This ensures transparency while giving you time to renew.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Check Your License Status

  1. Log into your Heritage Web dashboard

  2. Navigate to your Profile or Organization listing

  3. Look for any license expiration warnings

  4. Check the "Licenses" or "Credentials" section

Step 2: Update License Information

  1. Click "Edit" on your listing

  2. Scroll to the "Professional Licenses" section

  3. Find the expired license entry

  4. Update with your new license number and expiration date

Step 3: Upload Documentation (If Required)

  1. Prepare a digital copy of your renewed license

  2. Click "Upload" or "Attach Document"

  3. Select your license file

  4. Ensure the image is clear and readable

Step 4: Submit for Verification

  1. Click "Publish Draft" or "Save Changes"

  2. Your listing enters review (pending version created)

  3. Current version remains live during review

  4. Review takes 1 business day (sponsors) or 2-3 days (free)

Step 5: After Approval

  1. You receive confirmation email

  2. Expired license marking is removed

  3. Lead matching resumes automatically

  4. Your listing returns to full functionality

Important Notes

  • Listing stays published — expired licenses don't cause removal

  • Publicly marked — visitors see the expired license notation

  • Lead matching pauses — you won't receive new matched leads until updated

  • No retroactive matching — leads from the expired period aren't recovered

  • Annual reviews — licenses are checked yearly, not just at expiration

FAQs

Q: Will my listing be removed if my license expires? A: No. Your listing remains published but is marked as having an expired license. You're excluded from receiving new matched leads until you update your credentials.

Q: How quickly will lead matching resume after I update? A: Lead matching resumes as soon as your updated license is approved (1 business day for sponsors, 2-3 for free listings).

Q: What if my license is suspended rather than expired? A: Suspended licenses may result in immediate listing removal. Contact [email protected] immediately if your license is suspended.

Q: Can I remove the expired license instead of updating it? A: Yes, but this may affect your ability to receive certain types of leads that require that specific license. Consider the impact before removing.

Q: Do I need to update licenses that are still valid? A: No. Only update licenses that have expired or will expire soon. We'll notify you before annual reviews.
