Quick Answer

Add your application URL in the "Job Website / Application URL" field in the Location Settings section of your job listing. This creates an "Apply Now" button that directs candidates to your external application page—whether that's your company careers page, an ATS, or a job board like Indeed.

Overview

Job listings on Heritage Web don't have a built-in application system. Instead, you provide a URL where candidates can apply. This keeps your application process consistent with your existing hiring workflow.

The Job Website / Application URL is the primary way candidates will apply for your position.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Location Settings Section

Navigate to your Edit Job page and expand "Location Settings."

Step 2: Find the Job Website / Application URL Field

Look for the "Job Website / Application URL" field within the section.

Step 3: Enter Your Application URL

Paste the full URL where candidates should apply:

Application Type

Example URL

Company careers page

https://yourcompany.com/careers/job-123

ATS (Workday, Greenhouse, etc.)

https://yourcompany.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/careers/job/123

Indeed

https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=abc123

LinkedIn

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/123456789

Other job board

Step 4: Submit Your Changes

Click "Publish Draft" to save and submit for review.

What Candidates See

When your job listing is published, candidates see an "Apply Now" button that:

  • Opens your application URL in a new tab

  • Takes them directly to your application page

  • Keeps the Heritage Web listing available for reference

Best Practices

Use a direct link: Link directly to the specific job application, not your general careers page. Candidates shouldn't have to search for the position again.

Test your link: Before submitting, open the URL in an incognito browser to ensure it works and doesn't require login to view.

Keep it updated: If the position moves to a different URL, update your Heritage Web listing promptly.

Use tracking parameters: If your ATS supports UTM parameters, you can add them to track applications from Heritage Web.

Why Jobs Don't Have Private Messages

Unlike Profile and Organization listings, job listings don't include Heritage Web's private messaging feature. This is intentional:

Listing Type

Contact Method

Profile

Private Messages, Phone, Email

Organization

Private Messages, Phone, Email

Event

Contact organizer via linked Organization

Job

Job Website / Application URL only

Routing all applications through your Job Website URL ensures:

  • Consistent candidate tracking in your ATS

  • Proper compliance documentation

  • Organized application workflow

Important Notes

  • Always include a URL: Without an application URL, candidates have no way to apply

  • Full URL required: Include https:// at the beginning

  • External applications: All applications happen on your external site, not Heritage Web

  • No messaging on jobs: Candidates cannot message you through Heritage Web for job listings

FAQs

What if I don't have a careers page or ATS? You can link to a job posting on Indeed, LinkedIn, or another job board. Alternatively, create a simple Google Form for applications and link to that.

Can candidates apply through Heritage Web directly? No. Heritage Web displays your job listing, but applications are handled through your Job Website / Application URL.

What if my application URL changes? Edit your job listing and update the URL field. Submit the changes—they'll go through re-review before publishing.

Can I use an email address instead of a URL? No. The field requires a URL. If you want to collect applications via email, create a simple form (Google Forms, Typeform, etc.) that emails submissions to you, then link to that form.

Why can't candidates message me about the job? Job listings intentionally exclude private messaging to route all candidate communication through your formal application process, ensuring proper tracking and compliance.
