Paid Referrals Overview

Quick Answer

Paid referrals connect you with pre-qualified clients who've submitted requests through Heritage Web's network of 300+ publications. You must have at least one approved listing (profile, organization, job, or event) to receive and purchase leads. You pay $29-$395 per lead only when you choose to purchase, with no contracts or minimum commitments. Each lead is manually vetted, exclusively sold to one professional or business, and can be purchased via email notification or dashboard with complete contact information delivered immediately.

Overview

Heritage Web's paid referral system is a pay-per-lead service designed for professionals and businesses seeking qualified clients. When someone submits a request on a publication like BlackLawyers.com or WomenAgents.com, our matching engine identifies suitable firms and professionals based on location, specialty, language, and other factors. You receive instant notifications about matches and can review lead details before making a purchase decision through either email or your dashboard.

Prerequisites: Approved Listings Required

Before You Can Purchase Leads

You must have at least one approved listing in the Heritage Web network:

  • Profile Listing: Your professional/personal listing (one per account)

  • Organization Listing: Business or nonprofit listings (multiple allowed)

  • Job Listing: Employment opportunities (multiple allowed)

  • Event Listing: Conferences, workshops, events (multiple allowed)

Approval Timeline

  • Sponsor Listings: 1 business day

  • Free Listings: 2-3 business days

  • Status Check: View approval status in your dashboard

Important: No leads will match or be available for purchase until at least one listing is approved.

How Paid Referrals Work

Step 1: Client Submits Request

Potential clients complete intake forms for community-specific publications within our extensive network of over 300 publications, providing details about their needs, location, and preferences.

Step 2: Manual Review Process

Our team reviews each submission within 24 hours using third-party verification tools to validate contact information, block spam, and ensure proper categorization.

Step 3: Automatic Matching

The system applies our six-filter matching engine to identify qualified professionals and businesses:

  • Publication match (prioritizes same publication, then network-wide)

  • Valid professional license (when applicable)

  • Practice area specialty

  • Language capabilities (including team members)

  • Geographic proximity (default 75-mile radius)

  • Years of experience (for prioritization)

Step 4: You Receive Notification

Matched professionals and businesses receive email alerts with lead preview and pricing, plus leads appear in your dashboard.

Step 5: Two Ways to Purchase

Option A: Email Purchase

  • Click "Purchase Lead" in email notification

  • Complete payment on Stripe checkout page

  • Receive follow-up email with contact information

  • Lead appears in the dashboard "Purchased" tab

Option B: Dashboard Purchase

  • Click "Purchase Lead" in Leads Dashboard

  • Enter payment info in pop-up window

  • View contact details on Lead Details page

  • Receive confirmation email with contact info

FAQs

Q: How quickly should I contact a purchased lead? A: Best practice is within 2 hours. Studies show the faster you respond, the higher your conversion rate. Leads expect quick responses after submitting their requests.

Q: What's the difference between an email and a dashboard purchase? A: Both provide the same lead at the same price. Email purchase uses Stripe's external checkout, while the dashboard uses an in-app pop-up. Both deliver contact information immediately.

Q: Can I get a refund if the lead doesn't convert? A: We don't guarantee conversions, but you can request a refund within 7 days if there's an issue with lead quality (invalid contact info, already hired someone, significant mismatch). Each case is evaluated individually.

Q: Why do some leads cost more than others? A: Pricing depends on practice area value and qualifying questions. More complex cases or higher-value services tend to cost more, with a maximum of $395 per lead.

Q: What's the difference between sponsor and free access? A: Sponsors get 24-hour exclusive access to new leads before they're available to free listings. This significantly increases your chances of purchasing high-quality leads. Any sponsor listing type provides this benefit.

Q: How many leads will I receive? A: Volume depends on your settings: practice areas, geographic radius, number of publications, and listing types. You can increase matches by expanding your radius, adding specialties, or creating multiple listing types.

Q: Do I need a listing on every publication to get leads? A: No. While listing on the same publication gives priority, Heritage Web also matches qualified professionals network-wide when clients haven't requested publication-exclusive referrals.
